The story of Thieves Oil . . .

Verbal history tells us that the mix of essential oils in Thieves Oil originated during the 15th century in France when the bubonic plague, also known as Black Death, was running roughshod over the population in France. During this time, something unique was happening. While coming in contact with the dead and dying meant sure death, there were some thieves who were able to go into the homes of the dead and dying without contracting the disease themselves. This meant they were able to steal from them when others could not approach them and stay healthy. Why?

When the four thieves were finally captured and questioned by the authorities, they were forced to reveal their secret to avoid the hangman’s noose. The thieves had devised a recipe, by what means we will never know, that seemed to protect them from the Black Death. It was composed of essential oils, namely cloves, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary, and afforded them protection from the plague. The authorities granted them a lighter sentence in exchange for disclosing the recipe for this magical remedy, which we now know as Thieves Oil. 

15 ways to use Thieves Oil ~

1. For Cuts – If you have a cut or open wound, use 1 or 2 drops Thieves Essential Oil to help prevent infection and to promote healing.

2. Sore Throats – If you have a sore throat use one drop of Thieves and 1 tablespoon of water. Gargle. Your throat will thank you!

3. Allergies – Allergy problems? Inhale Thieves and help to eliminate allergy symptoms!

4. Coughs – Get cough relief by adding 1-2 drops and 1 teaspoon of honey.

5. Bronchitis – Apply (undiluted) to the upper chest and throat for bronchitis relief.

6. Congestion – Breath Thieves vapors to help with congestion.

7. Stings – If you have a bee or wasp sting just add 1 drop to the infected area. The Thieves will pull out the toxins and help to relieve the pain.

8. Promote Good Health! – Thieves does such an amazing job in keeping you healthy! Think of it as a daily vitamin and add a drop of Thieves to your tea for not only added flavor, but to help promote good health!

9. Ward Off Colds and Flu – Rub into the soles of your feet to protect yourself from colds and flu. (Bonus: It’s a great reason to ask for a foot massage!)

10. Dental Health – Maintain healthy teeth and reduce cavities by rubbing 1-2 drops onto your teeth. You can also treat and prevent gum disease by rubbing a drop onto your gums. For little ones, Thieves is great for rubbing on gums to help with teething pain.

11. Sanitize – Sanitize by using 12-18 drops with water to fill a 14 oz. water spray bottle. Use it to clean counters, butcher blocks and cutting boards!

12. Purify The Air – Place several drops on tissues and put in the AC vent to freshen and purify air! Great for when you are in the car or staying in a hotel.
